LAS MAGDALENAS (1986)

 

Las protagonistas de esta pieza son dos mujeres con largas cabelleras que caen sobre sus cuerpos a manera de túnicas. La mujer cubierta con una máscara mortuoria, sale de una estructura de piedra. Entre sus dedos sostiene una perla, que simboliza la trasmisión del conocimiento de la Diosa. La otra mujer avanza hacia ella y lleva sobre su mano una piedra roja que brilla. De acuerdo con el libro de magia de los egipcios Leyden Papyrus, las “piedras de sangre” le otorgarán todo lo que pida al que las posea. A partir del simbolismo de las piedras se intuye que la Magdalena que sale de la tumba entrega los secretos a la otra Magdalena, que tiene el poder para hacerlos realidad y transmitirlos a las nuevas generaciones. 1

THE MAGDALENS (1986)

 

The protagonists of this piece are two women with long hair that falls on their bodies like robes. The woman covered in a mortuary mask comes out of a stone structure. Between her fingers she holds a pearl, symbolizing the transfer of knowledge of the Goddess. The other woman advances towards her and carries upon her hand a shining red stone. According to the Egyptian magic book Leyden Papyrus, the "blood stones" will grant everything to their possessor.  From the symbolism of the stones it is perceived that the Magdalene that leaves the tomb gives the secrets to the other Magdalene, who has the power to make them come true and transmit them to the new generations. 1
